— Who gives it

Who gives the massage, and are they licensed?

Yes. Every massage on the menu is given by a licensed massage therapist, and the owner is one of them. Fiona took her massage therapy degree at Northwestern Health Sciences University, is licensed as a massage therapist and as an advanced practice esthetician, and goes back to Korea every year for continuing education — her VoyageMinnesota interview tells how she came to the work.

Irina, Jing and Gabrielle also work across massage and head spa. Their bios are on the about page, and a particular therapist can be requested when you book.

What to say before the hour starts

Where it is tight, how long it has been that way, and anything that should be left alone — a recent injury or operation, a skin condition, pregnancy, or something a doctor has told you to avoid. Say what pressure you like, too. The therapist checks again partway through, and lighter or firmer is an ordinary thing to ask for.

When to ask a doctor first

Massage here is a wellness treatment, not medical care, and it does not diagnose or treat anything. With a fever, an open wound, a recent operation, a clotting disorder or a high-risk pregnancy, check with your doctor before booking.

— Deep tissue & hot stone

Deep tissue or hot stone — which one should I book?

Both are $120 for sixty minutes. Book deep tissue for a spot you can point to: the therapist works slowly into one or two areas — usually the shoulders, the neck or the low back — instead of spreading the hour evenly, and it is normal to feel that work while it happens. Book hot stone when everything feels stiff: warmed stones are worked over the muscle first, so it softens before any real pressure goes in.

If nothing hurts in particular, relaxation massage is the one — long, even strokes over the whole body at a pressure that stays comfortable throughout, $105 for 60 min or $145 for 90 min. The deep tissue page goes further into what that hour feels like.

If you want ninety minutes

Hot stone runs 90 min for $160 and relaxation 90 min for $145. Deep tissue is booked as a 60 min appointment only, so for a longer session book the ninety-minute hot stone and ask for firm work through the back and shoulders.

— Cupping

Do you offer cupping massage?

Yes, as an add-on rather than an appointment of its own. Cupping is $15 on top of a relaxation, deep tissue or hot stone massage, and you choose it when you book that massage. Bamboo massage is the other add-on, at $15.

Cupping uses cups that hold the skin with suction. They leave round marks where they sat — the NCCIH notes that cupping leaves temporary marks on the skin — so it is worth planning around a wedding, a photo or a swimsuit weekend.

When to leave it off

Over broken, sunburned or irritated skin, and whenever you would rather not have the marks. If you take a blood thinner or bruise easily, say so when you book.

— Getting here

How do I get there from Anoka?

Head east. Highway 10 carries you out of Anoka into Coon Rapids; leave it at Round Lake Boulevard and turn north, and Northdale Boulevard NW is the crossing a short way up. The studio is at 3183 Northdale Blvd NW Suite B. There is one studio, and it is in Coon Rapids rather than Anoka.

Parking is free and directly in front of the building. The address says Suite B; the door itself is marked 3183B.

Hours, and the Tuesday closure

Mon, Wed–Sat 10 AM–6:30 PM · Sun 10 AM–6:30 PM · Closed Tuesday. Book online, or text (763) 317-6018 — the team is often with guests, so a text is answered sooner than a call. The Anoka page covers the facials and skin treatments, if you want to pair one with the massage.

— Common questions

Asked & answered.

Is the massage therapist licensed?

+

Yes. Every massage at Fiona's Day Spa is given by a licensed massage therapist. The owner, Fiona, holds a massage therapy degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University and is licensed as a massage therapist and as an advanced practice esthetician.

Is there a Fiona's Day Spa in Anoka?

+

No. There is one studio, at 3183 Northdale Blvd NW Suite B, Coon Rapids, MN 55433, east of Anoka along Highway 10. Parking is free in front of the door, which is marked 3183B.

How much is a massage at Fiona's Day Spa?

+

Relaxation is $105 for 60 min or $145 for 90 min, deep tissue $120 for 60 min, and hot stone $120 for 60 min or $160 for 90 min. Cupping adds $15 and bamboo massage $15.

Can I add cupping to any massage?

+

To any massage on the booking page — relaxation, deep tissue or hot stone — for $15, chosen when you book. It leaves temporary round marks on the skin, so plan around anything you would rather not have them for.

How much do I need to undress?

+

As much as you are comfortable with. You are draped throughout and only the area being worked on is uncovered.

Do I need an appointment?

+

Yes — this is an appointment-based studio. Book online any time, or text (763) 317-6018; the team may be with guests, so texting usually gets an answer faster than calling. Same-day slots do come up, but the head spa room is the one that fills first, so a few days' notice helps.

What is the cancellation policy?

+

We value both your time and ours. Should you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice to avoid incurring any charges. Cancellations with 24+ hours' notice are not charged. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged a fee equal to 50% of the total service cost.

— Research & references

Massage is the best-documented treatment on this menu. The NCCIH lists it among the approaches studied for pain, stress and sleep, and the AMTA sets out where the research is strongest: the NCCIH on massage therapy , pain , sleep , the AMTA on massage and pain relief and on stress and mental health . General references on massage therapy, not claims about a specific outcome from a specific appointment. Treatments at Fiona's Day Spa are wellness and beauty services. They are not medical care and they do not diagnose, treat or cure any condition. If you have a scalp, skin or health concern, see a physician or a dermatologist.

Treat your scalp to the care it deserves.
